Craig's Pipes (G)
The more familiar settings in G, with that whine on long b’ notes, seem to be a transposition of the three-part Smyth setting, the Kernan original, but with the parts in reverse order, and with Kernan’s CK, part raised to the higher register, relatively speaking, resulting in a BACK format, and, in the case of the Tom Morrison version, with parts added. Meagher has a three part version, in the order ACKB, which he calls “The Rakes of Toom”.
Titles
It is difficult to make sense of the Morrison order, the last two parts seeming to be variants of earlier parts. Its format can be best described as ACKBA’B’.
